I was wondering, since it's still on the fuel program webpage at TDS.

Folks, you can use these as you wish or ignore them. No skin off my back. It was just something I put together and if you think it too difficult that's ok. I didn't get fancy with these because I didn't want to take too much time playing around.

I built a spreadsheet to compare TSD savings to using a 5% cash back credit card. It isn't fancy and is only as good as the user follows the instructions and/or TSD doesn't change the report formats. I only did this for the Pilot and Loves reports. I'll consider TA when I see one again.

The trick is to know just a little about spreadsheets and how to copy and past. I made them so you can copy the columns with data from the reports and only those columns. If you copy more or less than those columns...no workie...workie.

If you use something else besides MS Excel...don' know if it works correctly or not.

BTW...for you Excel users, the sheets are partially protected. The cells in yellow are locked. Both sheets do NOT use a password to protect.

There are 2 tabs...for now. LOVES & PILOT FLYING J.

From the report spread sheet (not the PDF report) copy the data columns. For Loves highlight columns A thru F and for Pilot A thru G. Then go the the comparison spread sheet and appropriate tab and highlight cell A3, then copy. Make sure you are on the proper TAB for LOVES or PILOT FLYING J.

If all goes well you will get (per gallon) TSD savings (including the deduction of their 10% cut), 5% Credit Card (CC) savings, who the "winner" is and how much the winner saves over the other option. I've also set the formatting one the winner column to highlight in red when either the CC is a better deal or there there is no reported TSD price.

Clearly, Loves is the big winner when compared to using a 5% cash back CC. Since a 5% cash back always beats paying cash I didn't even bother with that comparison even assuming I could calculate that from the report data.

I can't upload an Excel file so I am uploading a PDF for you to look at. If you are interested you will need to use my Email contact and provide me your Email to send the spread sheet to you.

Have fun or not. LOL

So, bottom line based on that point in time comparison, I'm probably better off using my Pilot card (I think either .06 or .08 off is what it gives) than the TFD card.

For me, the pay at the pump is worth more than a bit more savings of a percent off/rebate card paying at the counter.

I can't remember which price the Pilot card gives you a discount off of, the cash or credit price.

At Pilot/Flying J...a qualified YES. I don't have the Pilot debit card so I am not familiar with the program. I do have the GS card that gives $.03 (I think that is the discount but haven't used it in a while) off the pump price regardless of CC or cash.

Paying at the pump has intrinsic value to some.

Now at Loves...that is a totally different story.

I only compare Loves TSD pricing to the best price found on Gas Buddy stations I can access with my 65'-70' long equipment. Normally Loves cannot compete with most of the "good deals" even using the TSD card at Loves vs. the 5% discount at a competing station. It is handy to have the TSD card for those times it can be used. IMHO, and I do have the TSD card.

One strike against Loves is they are frequently Bio Fuel I am not a fan of that.

How many of you received the email from TSD yesterday with someones application attached showing their bank info and SSN? Total screw up on their part.

I've come to a general dislike of Gas Buddy for coach fuel. They don't show a lot of the truck stops and you have to do a lot of google map research to figure out if a station is accessible or not. That doesn't mean I don't use it but I use it a lot less for my RV than my toad.

I did, no bank account or SS number, just address and cell number's........deleted it and emailed TSD.........Called TSD yesterday, left message with question's and no call back as of yet. Not sure if it is this thread, but I have seen post;s from Joy on here.......

From my understanding from the email, it was a internal error, not hacked, so like me, I would think most all that got the bad email would inform them and just delete it........I hope!

Sorry, probably wasn't clear on that point. I have the TSD card and a Pilot RV Plus card (just looked and it says .08 off per gallon of Diesel -- it was .05 on gas that I used to have).

So, my thinking was Pilot Plus card for Pilot/Flying J for .08 off a gallon and then TSD for Loves for the .30-.50 off a gallon and then TA would be the TSD as it's my only pay at pump value.

For me, there is significant intrinsic value for pay at pump.

Not to say you are wrong but a quick look at our fuel stop for tomorrow (and yes the discount could change) shows the TSD price is $2.4825 Compared to the lowest GB price within about 20 miles of $2.729 ($2.592 with 5% cash back) at a Murphy's which I don't even know is accessible.

I did a quick spot check on a few other areas and found Loves seemed to beat GB there too.
