Fuel pump and other issues Monaco Diplomat

2000 Monaco Diplomat. Low fuel pressure light comes on and diesel stumbles or stalls. Mechanic says both pumps plus the computer controlled valve need to be replaced. This is an extremely expensive problem. Parts come only from Cummins. Is this issue common to this model coach? Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, did you go to a cummins dealer to have this looked at? Have you tryed to change your fuel filters to see if that helps? What engine do you have ?

I replaced my fuel lift pump my self on a 2000 american eagle ISC 350. This did have the check engine light for low fuel pressure. It took around 2 hours, but 1.5 hours was looking for tools. The pump cost $300 from cummins. It is easy to do yourself. I used a socket set and a crestant wrench for the big fuel lines. I also cleaned all the parts nicely, better then any tech would. The new pump corrects a design issue they had by using 1/4x28 screws into an aluminum flange. The threads are too fine for a large diesel engine. A new pump will make you engine more reliable. If you have not had your filters changed recently. You should do that too, just to make sure your fuel intake system is healthy. If there is any issue with the injector pump, that's expensive, unless you get lucky and find a good white hair mechanic. I can send you instructions for replace pump if you like. I know of a document that someone put together with pictures. I was happy I did it myself. Cummins power club will save you 10 %. Good luck, Bill

sucker, I have to disagree with you on how techs clean parts for diesel engines. The parts that they clean have to be very clean. Even a grain of sand could cause problems before the vehicle leaves the shop. How do I know this? My best friend is a diesel tech.
