Hi:

I have a gas grill (doesn't everyone?

) seriously, this probably applies to all types of grills. I presently pull the grill (Weber Q-100)and bring it home after each trip to clean-it etc. I am worried about leaving it in the basement of the rig in the storage yard for fear of infestation or attracting "varmits" (raccoons can do a lot of damage).

What does everyone else do about this? Covers storage bags etc.???

My grill stays on the coach in the lower storage area. We store the coach on a farm when we are not using it and have never had a problem.

My charcoal grill stays in the basement as well. No issues for the last 10 years.

We also store ours in the MH basement year round. Our MH sits outside and we have never had a problem.

I have the Baby Weber and also bought the zip up cover for it. My thinking was to prevent grill smells from coming up into the RV.
I also keep it stored in the bay and smells or rodents have not been a problem.

Due to the size of it, I cut two boards the cross length of the bay area, covered them with felt, and this allows me to put my two recliners across the boards and utilize the bay height.

As always! I knew I could count on the good people at IRV2! You all have put my mind at ease.

I particulary liked the suggestion with the boards from E Z Livin as I do lose some space when I have the grill packed(we must have the same grill). I am new to owning a motorhome so I really appreciate the advice. I probably am just a little too "anal retentive"

I also store a Weber Baby Q in a bay. I clean it up after the trip and store it on a rubber mat. I've also added a wire shelf above to store other items. Not sure it helps, but I always keep a couple of dryer sheets in that bay.

Ditto to the above. I don't think the smell of burnt grease is on the menu of most rodents, so they leave it alone.

Run the grill on high with the lid closed for 10-15 minutes after cooking and there won't be any greasy residue left to smell.

I also have the baby Weber and store it in the bay with no problem. I wonder if the varmits don't like my bbq cooking??? Seriously, I clean it after each trip and store it without any problem.

Same here - in the "trunk". Funny, even when there's lots of grease in the tray (Webber Q-120), the critters don't seem to bother it when we're camping and the ants don't seem attracted to it at the house.

I don't clean my gas grill! Just burn it off and use a scrub pad on the grill rack. We store it on the Hitch-Haul (strapped down) as our class C doesn't have but one storage locker. I have one of those cheapie $20 grills from Wal-Mart. Since we burn up gass grill burners (both little table top models as well as the big full-size ones) from usage, we decided to stick with the cheapiues as it beats (me) having to rebuild a grill once a year. And it's cheaper to buy new than to rebuild. We have decided to stick with the cheapie units , even with the bus conversion. For that, I'll use one of those black plastic tubs that you get at the lumber yard to mix concrete, etc in (have 2 of them) and store in the basement. We've never had a bug or pest problem with our grills. But then we also cook on them alot, year-round.

I have never tried this, but my neighbor is friend of a man that sells some high dollar grills. He said use cat litter in bottom to prevent grease build up.

Just what I heard.
