I have a Generac NP-66G. It will start up fine. Runs very smooth and quiet. When the coach is pluged into it, the generator will shut down after 15 minutes. Here is the weird part. If the generator is not connected to the coach, it will run all day every time. It doesnt matter if I am pulling 5 watts or 25 watts. It will shut down after 15 minutes. When the unit shuts down it will sputter then back fire. It wont start right back up. However, if I wait 5 minutes it will restart and run 15 minutes again, unless I disconect the coach, then it will run all day...........
The unit is a 1999 and has 346 hours on it.
Any one got any ideas? Im going bald from scratching my head so much.

What do you mean by "When the coach is pluged into it"?

sounds like a fuel delivery problem,could be a fuel filter, or it could be a rubber gas line, why did I say rubber gas line. Well with ethanol gas a lot of people are having trouble with rubber gas lines.

I vote crack in your gas line between the tank and fuel pump.

Had to replace mine last year. Same age coach

Dave. That's when I take the cord and plug it to the generator to give the power to the coach

Tim / wideglide. The unit will run all day when I'm not pulling power from it. Y'all think that could still be a crack or bad fuel filter?

Let me add these, when was the last time you replaced the sparkplugs, if non electronic when was the last time you replaced the points, cap, rotor and spark plugs. When one the last time you replaced the fuel filter and air filter?

Well, before I dropped the tank to replace it, I would rule out a weak fuel pump by getting a short piece of fuel line and running the generator from a portable fuel container.

BTW, mines a 2000 Dolphin, built on a '99 Ford chassis.

Before I bit the bullet and had the tank lowered to replace the entire line, a rv shop I took it to

, put a fresh inline filter in it, used a pump to load the entire line with fuel, hooked the line back up to the generator and let it run (no load ) for an hour, and claimed it must have been run low on gas and got some air in the line. I knew this was'nt the case, because I had never let the tank get below 1/2 since I bought it.
Brought the coach home, fired up the generator, turned on the a/c's, and it ran about 20min and quit.

I have a Generac on my 2000 Dolphin. If I get fuel to the filter/pump, usually by siphoning by mouth...YUK...the thing will run forever. If it sets for a day or two the primer pump won't pressurize. The rubber fuel line goes back to the I-beam and disappears, going forward along the tank. Drop the tank to replace the rubber fuel line?

Do you think going back a couple of feet on the line and placing a "check valve" would get the fuel pump pumping and draw the fuel through the "vacated" part of the line?

Mine runs all day with no load. Plug the cord to the generator. Turn on the a/c's or any thing for that matter. Generator cuts off after 20 minutes. The sound it makes when it is sutting down, is sputtering and back fire. Does sound like a fuel problem. But the generator will run all day with no load. Not sure. Im concidering buying a new generator in 2012. Lots of money i really dont want to spend, But need power going down the road.
