A little help please for a newbe!! We have a 2007 Gulfstream BT Crusier with a 4.0 Onan generator. Our dealer said that we just plug the shore line into the plug in the shoreline storage compartment and turn on the generator to power up.
Having done this we still cannot get the convection microwave to work even though the manual says it only draws 900 watts. It works fine on shore power. We tried it with no other appliances on. I have not tried to run the AC off of the generator but will tomorrow.
Tommorow I want to winterize and check out all systems before bringing it back to the dealer to take care of some minor problems.
Is there something I am missing about using the generator? What would you suggest that I do to test to see that the generator is putting out power or that I have it hooked up correctly?
I have gone thru all of the manuals and cannot find anything that would make me believe that it should be working
Don

Don, it sure sounds like the genset is not putting out power. There is a breaker on the generator itself that if turned off, will not send any power to the coach. Check that --- it's probably beside the start/stop rocker switch on the generator.

I would also test other outlets in the coach to see if the generator is putting out any power. Anything electrical should do. If they are dead and the generator is running, you know it's not producing power.

Thanks Darryl,
I checked the outlets and as you suspected I was not getting power. I switched the breaker a couple of times and it did the trick.
Winterization went well except that I cannot get the backflow preventer on the city water to seat. When I pushed the valve in to let a little anti freeze to flow through it would not stop flowing. looks like there is some kind of "trick" to pushing and twisting that I have not figured out.
Will did out the manuals.
Thanks again
Don

I'm sorry to say, but you broke the back flow preventer. Proibably you pressed it while it was under preassure. You need to change the assembly. It is quite easy, and it costs only $5 in most MH places.
