Generator problem
Anyone have ideas on why my gennie stop running after about 30 minutes? I am in Texas in about 100 degree heat so maybe it's just over heating. I've tried it sitting still and going down the highway. All the ventilation holes in the compartment seem to be open. I even tried removing the front cover. Still the same results. Any ideas???

Suggest you give a little more info such as fuel type and model number.
For example, if the motorhome was in storage for a long time the diesel could have jelled. Some Power Service from Wally World would help.
Could be air in the lines. On my Onan I can prime the system to displace the air.
Coolant level?
Oil Level?
Last time you changed fuel filter.
Last time you changed the air filter
Cleaned out the spark gap lately.
If your gas, or propane, ....different story

On some generators they tell you not to run it with the cover off.

Gas model. Full tank of fuel in MH. Worked ok the first time I used it back in the winter and have run it about every two weeks when in storage but never in this hot an environment

Try it unloaded...
Fire it up but leave everything off.
If good then start turning things on.

I recently encountered the same issues with 7000 watt gas onan. My oil level was down 1/3 way on the dipstick hash marks. I read on the forum that these units can be sensitive to oil level especially when it is hot. I topped off the oil and it runs fine now. Filling these units with oil can be a test of my patience, as it goes in very slow.

One of the generators I've had over the years had an oil related problem. If the motor home was parked off level , or driving down the road (with all that inherent movement ) the generator would shut off.
It turned out to be a faulty low oil sender, which would shut down the generator.

I'm in Midland, and had the same problem . Had to replace the fuel filter and fuel pump, to make a long story short . Working fine now. Filter is only a few dollars and the pump was 122.00.

Is the oil the correct weight for the ambient temperature? How about adding some oil additive as well to help keep generator cool in hotter temps?
