A while back I posted on this same problem on another site, which produced a pretty good thread ...and a lot of good ideas....to recap, ...my generator runs out of fuel between 3/4 and full...I think it started this shortly after I purchased it, since I'm sure that it only had about 1/4 tank when I picked it up and the generator was running then....anyway we all went through the ideas of dropping the tank to repair what might be an air leak...a short or bent pickup tube...maybe just installing a separate small tank solely for the gen. set...etc...
Now I have another idea that I need some feedback on...
My main fuel tank has a blocked off fuel inlet and return on the other side of the tank, making it universal for either side filling on other applications....so what if a person could use this access for installing a new pickup tube of sorts....say a copper tube with a screen filter on the end...
I've had the generator running by dropping the rubber fuel line in an orange juice bottle (filled with gasoline), so why wouldn't this work?..
I'd do some quick trying, but for starters, the frame is in the way some...and also the hose clamp that holds the clamp is up against the belly and very hard to get to...in fact it's so tight in there...that even if...it's gonna take something flexible...like the fuel hose itself to feed in there....and may have to use the large filler inlet rather than the fuel return inlet....so before I attempt anything,...I'd like to hear some pros and cons...
Has anyone ever tried this or know of someone who did???
