i have a 1999 chev class c with a 7.4 v8
my gen will only run when the coach motor is running..when you shut it down the gen runs about 15 min then runs out of fuel
you can start the coach motor up and then you can start the gen and run it as long as you want untill you stop the coach motor
has anyone had that problem

It could be possible that someone did some rewire work and your gen fuel pump is now connected to ignition, turn the key but don't start coach motor. See if gen runs

the gen runs untill it runs out of gas.. then you can start the motor on the motorhome wate a min then statr the gen ,,then kill the motor on the motorhome..the gen runs for around 15 min untill it sucks all the gas out of the lines then dyes

Could be a venting problem on your fuel tank. Try running the gen with the gas cap off.

Your generator needs 12v to power its fuel pump and thus continue to get fuel. When the RV engine is running, the alternator provides 12v. When the engine is off, the generator is relying on one of the batteries to provide 12v to run the fuel pump. My guess is that battery is low and runs down after 15 minutes. My generator is powered from the chassis battery, but f you can restart the engine the chassis battery must be ok. Maybe a house battery? Or a separate battery just for the generator?
