Does anybody else out there have a genset, that due to its mounting location makes it impossible to remove the spark plugs and air filter. The factory tech said to unbolt it and lower it a few inches to reach these maintenance items. At 290lbs. I am not about to mess with lowering it. I can't believe an RV mfgr. would mount a genset that one can't get access to these routine procedures. I can just imagine what a dealer would charge to replace these items. Any comments? BTW, the genset is an Onan 5.5 Marquis.

Jack, unfortuanately almost ALL gas generators are installed in this manner. They (mfg of coaches) try to use every available square inch and so cramp everything. This does make it more difficult and expensive to maintain. We use a floor transmision style jack to aid in this lower of these units and it is not as bad as it sounds. Good luck and be safe.

Jack....if it's an Onan, use a floor jack like Mike said. When you undo the bolts, only the front lowers down at an angle and gives you access to the rear plug.
