Georgia vehicle road tax

If you live in GA and own a motor home please contact your state representative about the new road tax. Charging us the same dollars as someone on the road every day is grossly unfair. We need an exemption. I just paid $560 registration tax for the next 12 months. If that is not enough for a MH using the GA roads for 30 days a year then we need new representatives.

Are you saying you will pay that every year for road tax?

That's about what we paid in Texas. How are they supposed to know how many days a year you're on the road?

Don't move north to NC. Road tax and personal property along with income tax. X-North Carolinian.

How much does your motorhome weigh?

A few states are thinking about a use-based tax, like you're suggesting using OBD-II info and or GPS tracking (yea, that's another issue) - but with hybrids and all-electric cars, the govt is losing money.. Especially when increasing the gas tax isn't a popular item.

The other side of it is that my TT and your MH probably put a lot more wear on the road than a honda Civic...

They do not know the number of days. My point was that I normally only drive the MH a total of 30 days a year.

They are covering the tax loss due to more efficient vehicles by also raising the fuel tax $0.20/gallon starting 7/1.

I can't find anything on a new rv road tax, I pay a ad valorem tax on every car and Rv which is figured off of value so consider yourself lucky.

Could be the OP is talking about the new "heavy vehicle" fee.
