Good Sam RV insurance appeal

just turned in a $5000.00 bill to good sam and was turned down.problem was we live in our unit and fixed repairs before inspect and they say we should of called first which we knew but circumstances couldn't allow it but we did show them the bad parts.

what i'm asking is has anybody had success going through good sam appeal board where they review the decisions of the insurance company good sam uses.please don't tell me I should of called first I know that due to emergency operation etc were other issues.

Have used good sam prior and they were good not try to scam them and they know that
Write me if you had a refusal on any claim or an appeal

thanks chip winnipeg

I've got Grange Insurance. Had a BAD radiator leak on Memorial Day, had it towed to a shop on Tuesday. I could not see where leak actually was or what caused it. I had talked to a radiator shop and he said it's not uncommon for something to jump up off the road and punch a hole in it. I called my insurance agent and told him that I "think" I may have a claim but wouldn't know until the radiator was removed. 1 week later they finally pulled the radiator and sure enough, hole punched in the radiator. I called my agent and he turned in a claim. After about 3 weeks of back and forth they agreed to the claim and amount of ~$7800, with $1K deductible. Got the check this week and the coach is getting fixed now, radiator on order.

I guess whatever it was that broke will be the deciding factor for the board to consider it was an emergency or circumstances wouldn't allow and you needed to do it out of protocol. What is it that you had repaired.

I'm guessing this is a claim on the GS ESP and not your collision insurance? I don't think you stand a prayer unless it was a bonafide emergency, i.e. necessary to prevent personal injury or further damage to the RV. I don't know of anyone who ever prevailed on the basis of convenience or comfort, whether fulltimer or not. Your contract is very explicit about this and failure to follow the claim procedures is rarely, if ever, a forgivable offense.

Good luck...

Some of these radiators go for near $4000 and the labor of some rear radiator models can be a bear. They build the body around the radiator and don't ever figure on a way to get it out.

yes you are right I maybe hoped for some compassion from them.I am writing a personal letter to the ceo of good sam maybe he will show us some compassion, yeah right but it is worth a try the bill is $5000.00.i will let you know how I made out earlier contact with him he wrote if I have any trouble contact him after he read all the circumstances.must admit they don't need the bad publicity
also did you know they don't cover surge protector or any other item pertaining to shore power,if anything burns out they consider it an act of god

Also write to Motorhome Magazine "Action line". Sometimes their intervention can result in favorable results.

Good Sam RV Insurance? No way will I go for it. If you ever owned a home and had bought a home warranty contract ... well I found out they really aren't that great and don't cover everything.

Compassion from a "for profit" corp? good luck with that strategy.
If bad publicity had any effect, Good Sam would have gone bankrupt long ago. Too many folks more than willing to pay them double what it would cost to pay for their own repairs. Selling ESP's is like a license to print money.
