Grab bar
Anybody try to put a grab bar in their shower? I am disabled and really would feel safer with a grab bar in there, we have them in the showers at home and I use them a lot. Is there any , or even enough support material back there to be able to mount one? 1999 Rexhall Rexair. Thanks for your time.

Not sure what brand of coach you have but I don't think there is anything in any of my walls to bolt the grab bar to. You might try the ones with a strong suction cup. We used them for my mother. They wouldn't hold all your weight but worked to help stabilize.

I wonder if you call Rexair if they could suggest the proper way to install it. I am sure they still have layouts etc... Just a thought

Didn't think about the suction cup ones, I only need it for stability. Thanks for the heads up, that's what I will do.

For best suction thw wall must be smooth otherwise the grab bar will slip.

When ordered as an option they usually reinforce the wall where it's mounted, otherwise it would probably pull right out it you started to fall.

On my home shower, used three - 3" screws into the safety bar at each end anchored in the 2x6" plate behind the tile and cement board. When you grab that SOB you want it to hold you up and not rip out. there is nothing that I can think of in the MH that is held together with much more than staples and glue.
On my MH I added two hand grips. one to the main entrance and the other to the driver entry door. In both cases, I through bolted the handles. That is through bolted through the vertical frame member. There are few anchors that really hold and even fewer that hold into thin fiberglass or Styrofoam and 1/8" luan.

Contact manufacturer to see if they can supply aa drawing showing where the framing is located.
Otherwise try a stud finder as current ones use wall density to locate studs and you may be able to locate something.
Can you remove a trip part and use an inspection or bore camera?
They are cheap now at harbor freight and real handy for looking behind things, you may be able to remove trim from faucet and pull panel out enough to get camera in to see what is there.

I bought the suction cup one online from Walmart, $11.97 delivered to store. Tried it out, works perfectly. I could hang on that thing. Thanks for the heads up.
