All:

We recently replaced all 7 of our aged 22.5" OE Michelin RV tires on our Diesel Class A with Goodyear G670's.

The G670's are wider and have a greater load capacity. We immediately noticed improved handling, ride, and like the improved tire appearance/profile (didn't look liks "pizza pan" tires) on our Frieghtliner chassis.

Since we don't believe in "Rewarding BAD behavior" we were not going to buy French products (Michelin is a French global corporation that BTW owns BFGoodrich tire name, among others), we bought from US owned Goodyear. (The tire dealer said a lot of folks told him the same thing we did)

We were also concerned about the endless volume of postings re. folks "fighting" with Michelin for warranty replacements/repairs and Michelin tire problems.

Highly recommend the G670's if you're in the market for new RV tires. As I recall, they were around $2500 installed and balanced, at the Goodyear Wingfoot Commercial Tire Center in El Cajon, CA ask for "Kem".

Thanks for the good report. I've seen this type of feedback from a number of RVers who've converted over to the Goodyear G670 RV tires. When my XZE Michelins get some age on them I'll be making the same move. I've always had great success with Goodyear in the past, both with the company and the product.

I'll be doing the same when the tires on my coach get more miles on them, I already changed the Michelin's that were on my Jeep to Goodyear's. Ed

Hi Folks,
Glad to heare about Goodyears tires, We had a bad problem with Mich. Tires,
I put Goodyear 169 22.5 on the front, what a tire it drives great.

All: Sorry for delayed reply.

ED: Agree on the Jeep too - we have Goodyear MT/R 33x12.50's on the wife's lifted '02 Sahara Wrangler. They're great on trail/road and very quiet for such an aggressive tread pattern.

Buddy:
We had (old) Michelin 235/80R22.5 XZU4 on 7.50 x 22.5" rims and now have (new) Goodyear G670275/70R22.5. The rolling diameter is nearly identical.

Thanks for your answer. I have the Mich XRV/235-80R22.5 on my Horizon. I am particularly concerned with the width of the Goodyear's and the spacing between the inside and outside tires when mounted on the rear duels. I have read that if they are too close they can touch at times which will cause heat buildup and eventual failure. Do you have any data as to the spacing on your rig? I don't remember what the specifications are on my rims so I will go out today and find out.

Buddy/All:

Excellent question. The Goodyear dealer checked this when we installed the tires. There is no inside/outside sidewall clearance issue as installed on our RV.

As mounted and with RV weight on the axle/ tires, there is nearly 2 inches (1.8") between the facing sidewalls at the bottom. I can easily fit my hand (flat and oriented vertically) between the facing sidewalls.

I don't know what our dually rim offsets are or what Frieghtliner uses on their 23K GVWR chassis but our rims are are 7.5 inches wide and 22.5 inches in diameter.

We have the G670 275 R 22.5 H RV tires on the front of our coach and are satisfied. They have a good RV revelent web site at Goodyear RV with tips on tire care and tire life.

Buddy & others:
I also have an '02 Horizon, and did the required research before making the switch last year. The 275 Goodyear G670's, while 1.1" tread-width wider than the stock Michelins, have more than enough dual spacing for your application. They have the same loaded radius as the XRV's and are inteneded by Goodyear to directly replace either the Michelin 235/80R22.5 or the 255/80R22.5 Xrv. I have driven them over 10,000 miles and am very satisfied with my decision.

Capt. Bill is correct. I have the XRV 255-80R22.5 tires on my 02 Horizon 39QD. I emailed Goodyear for their replacement tire and got the following response:

Tom,

Dimensionally, the comparable size is the 275//70R22.5 load range H in the G670 RV. It will work on your wheels and be within all the
allowable tolerances.

Contact your local Commercial Goodyear dealer for price and availability. They are available because we supply many to the RV OEM's.
