Now that brings back some memories. Look to be an old Winne "Brave". Thanks for sharing.

Kinda reminds me of my first 18' Class "C". It seemed big at the time---1971---and plenty of room with 3 kids. Good memories!!!!

I checked the one out at the Elkhart Museum. To show how spoiled I have become with the roomy cockpits of today, I can't imagine driving in that old thing. the steering wheel points directly up and I thought it would be cumbersome to drive.

Haha. I wonder where the engine is? Doesn't seem like it would fit in the front. :-D

Some of these were built of Ford 6 cylinder pickup chassis and had single rear wheels instead of duals. We rented one back in the early 70's and it was a real handfull when an 18 wheeler passed on the Interstate highway.

Classic, my how times have changed. A friend of mine had a 73 went from FLA to WVA hunting 40 miles of mud and rock roads to get in for 10 years slept 5 for a week in cold weather 30 deg or less, rain and snow tough old coach. It finally died at the hands of a large pine tree that blew over on it.

The old "eye-brow" Winnies were great little RV's.

My FIL had a Winnebago, it had a Dodge motor, I can't remember how many cu.in. it was, I think it was a 440. In '70 we all piled in and went to the UP of MI. had a great time in it. It had an overhead bunk for my wife and I, the dinnette was for our 3 yr old, and FIL&MIL had the rear bedroom. He was really proud of that thing. It was sure fun.

That is where it all started. Those of us with the appropriate amount of age can remember when ALL, driven RV's were called Winnebago's, even it made by a competitor. The old Braves came with either a 6, or a dodge 318, and could be ordered with a Dodge 413 which was a forerunner to the Hemi and the 383. Most or the old Braves were 21 feet, but this on looks to be the 18 footer. Ed USN Ret.
