Heated holding tanks, battery charging & air con covers

Hello all,

I have 3 questions.

The brochure for my 2005 Damon Daybreak has the below mentioned in it, I called Thor and was told I could use the coach down to mid teens with the heating running, any lower ran the risk of freezing. I don't plan to use the coach below freezing but you never know. Does this sound right?

"DayBreak’s heated holding tanks and fully contained plumbing systems let you travel inmost any season. Tanks are mounted horizontally for easy servicing and maintenance"

Also where I will be storing my coach my coach has power but means running an extension lead that could not be left unattended. It would be easier just to start up the generator if power was needed. How often should and for how long would I need to run the generator to keep my coach batteries in good condition. I do have a Trimetric battery monitor installed. Also should I physically disconnect the batteries each time? The storage is not far from my house so could go over once a week or so.

The coach will be in a 3 side storage and the rear air con unit may get exposed to snow, should I get a cover for the average unit?

Thanks in advance,

Stephen

You probably wont have any problem if you charge them once a month and since you can stop buy easily you could just watch the voltage every week for a month to be sure. You might not even need to disconnect the batteries.

You will probably want to run you generator once a month anyway. Most manufactures recommend it for 2 hours at 25 to 50% load. It would be best to drive the rig once a month. Of course if that means operating in snow and ice and getting road salt on it I'd probably just do it at a fast idle till it got hot.

Couldn't hurt to cover the A/C. I don't know what sort of snow you get but the fans and covers are pretty flimsy and I'm not sure what could go wrong if ice built up inside.

Thanks Ed,

Good call on monitoring the battery.

I won't know until I put the coach in the storage if the air con will be exposed.

I am just about to order a genturi.
