My coach has a 20KW Power Tech generator. Whoever serviced it last did not put the large wing nut, that hold the air filter inside the air cleaner, back on.
The size is 7/16 by 20 threads per inch. I have tried all of the local hardware stores and nobody has one.
I have temporarily put a large washer and a hex nut on to do the job, but I would like to put things back the way they were originally.
Any help will be much appreciated.

Everybody has 7/16 by 14 but I have even been to a "fastener specialty" store, with no luck.

Jim,
Why don't you just leave the washer and nut and forget it ? I thought that I was the president of the "So Annal ... Can't Leave Anything Alone" club but you may unseat me

These guys will have them but you'll have to buy a pack for a couple of bucks.

Roger,
I was going on the possibility that the engineers knew what they were doing when they designed this thing, besides I like to keep things simple and you can't get much simpler than a wing nut.

Did you try McMaster Carr????
Might end up costing a bit for a simple wingnut with shipping etc., but if it's that important....than money's no object right!!!!

Check with "Fastenal." They are everywhere and you can find them in the white pages.
Also if you happen to be in a logging area, the logging supply centers have a lot of that kind of stuff.

I am pretty sure this same size is used for air breather tops. Check Advance Store.

I know we are not to discuss politics, but is that nut a right wing or left wing?
If you are anywhere near a coast or boating area, look for a West Marine Store.

If the nut you are using is 7/16 and is 20 threads per inch it is most likely a 1/4 -20 nut in which case you ask for a 1/4" wing nut. hope this helps tinker
