Willa and I got so frustrated with ''keys'' and other stuff that we would lose that I finally came up with a solution to the problem.
here is the solution .....
One. When you get home and want to store your keys someplace other than where they are suppose to be hung up ...... THROW THEM IN THE BASEMENT......
When you leave for a long weekend or three months on the road anything you want to find when you get home ....... THROW IT IN THE BASEMENT......
If there is simply something or an item that you absolutely dont want to lose .... THROW IT IN THE BASEMENT .....
This sounds silly but our house has a big basement and it is literally FULL OF STUFF that aint worth nothing but it is toooooo goooooooooood to throw away and I can find anything in the basement. Nothing down there is in any particular order except nuts and bolts in a plastic bin. everything else is just ''kinda laid around in a random manner'' and I can find anything down there in a matter of a minute or two....
I figure a thief would have to be out of his mind to venture down there. He would probably kill himself on the ''stuff'' laying in the floor or be buried alive by ''stuff'' stacked against the walls .... An ''unknowing person'' would be in great peral with the lights on and knowing the ''safe paths'' down there.
One more thing ...... I too still remember my service number, my SS number and my drivers license number no problem but sometimes I get Willa's birth date wrong .......
Anyhow, Thanks for all the input and the good ideas and one of you guys tell Wayne the Marine that a Palm Pilot has nothing to do with flying a small airplane by hand. I will send him a seperate e mail and explain to him how to write on paper and give it to Earlene for safe keeping .... (He confuses real easy) I will whisper this to you guys ....... WAYNE, GO TO THE BATHROOM AND WASH YOUR HANDS .......
Wayne was out in Vegas ''GAMBELING'' and he thought he was doin real good. I asked him .... '' How you doin' Wayne''..... he replied "I am about breaking even on this slot machine and I am havin fun doin it''
I didnt have the heart to tell him that he was putting dollars in a CHANGE MACHINE....LOL .......
Anyhow. (he's back, dont tease him about that Vegas thing).......
Thanks again for the input and you guys be safe on the road .....
GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS AND BRING THEM HOME SAFE AND SOON
GOD BLESS OUR VETS FOR THEIR SERVICE TO THIS GREAT NATION
Seajay the sailor man ........... (all in fun my Marine friend)

Seajay, don't you remember that everything aboard ship is kept in a "locker", but almost nothing was under Lock and Key. Or are you still looking for the keys to the SEACHEST? Good Luck!!

And since they are always in the last place you look, save yourself some time and look there first.

At my house the rule is: If you are looking for something, look under stuff first.

Nobody has suggested the use of a combination residential key lock box like the ones real estate agents use. You can get them in different sizes that will hold varing amounts of keys. Install it on something solid in the house, garage, or on the car itself.

I use one of these on my motorhome just incase I am locked out for some strange reason.

How about one of those "fake cans", they have them that look like cleaning supplies that you could put under the sink, or ones that look like something that goes in the fridge. My local locksmith sells them in his shop. But then you've got to remember where you put them, or wait until you need to clean!
