Hot water heater question

Okay I don't think there's a limit on how many dumb questions of new guy can ask in one day. But I'm hooked up to city water. Do I need to turn on my pump to work the hot water heater?

No you don't. It can help get better pressure, but it's not needed

Pump will NOT run unless city water pressure is lower then pump start pressure switch setting

City water ties into same cold water plumbing that pump discharges to.....which then has a cold water inlet to water heater which feeds the hot plumbing lines

Just make sure water heater tank is FULL before turning on heating source---electric or propane.
Electric element will burn out/short if NOT submerged in water
Propane can overheat tank w/o water....especially if Suburban with glass-lined tank

And check that the water heater 'Bypass' valve is CLOSED

Thank you for the quick replies. I've checked everything and I have the pump on. The hot water heater tank is full as far as I know because I had the pump on and had the water on as well. I've had the coach about a year but only been in it for about 6 months. This is the first time that I've hooked up to city water.

If you have been in RV for 6 months then I take it you have turned on water heater and gotten hot water

City water/pump----same plumbing system just two sources of water
Use either one
