Just got our first MH after having a 5th wheel. Just wondering how many miles most folks like to travel per day.

We prefer 100 to 150 or so. We've done as much as 475 miles, and as little as 22.2 miles.

Our travel days were longer when we vacationed. Back then we tried to make about 250 to 300.

We have found 250 miles is about right. Leave at 0900, arrive at next CG around 1500. Time to set up, relax, and go out to dinner. We generally travel between 55 and 60mph, so we are in no hurry and get our best mileage in that range.
We have gone as far as 450, and as low as 75, but 250, give or take 25, seems about right to us.

Very similar to our ranges ...we've gone as much as 470 and as little as 15, but most daily drives are in the 250 "give or take a little" range.

When enroute to a specific destination where we will be staying for a month or so, we usually try to do 300 or so miles per day.

Since we are not in a hurry, we usually go by the 230 rule. 230 miles or 2:30 in the afternoon. Whichever comes first, we look for a place to stop for the day.

the answer somewhat depends on the circumstances. for those out traveling around fulltime with no particular schedule or commitments, driving 2 - 4 hours per day with frequent stops to enjoy the area might be normal.
Where as those trying to get from point A to point B to enjoy a 7 day vacation at their favorite RV resort might drive 4 - 6 hours per day with only fuel/pit stops.

When I'm in a new area that I want to investigate and explore, I find myself driving less and stopping more. When I'm travelling the well known path between my summer base & my winter base, I stop less and drive more; but even then, without a copilot to keep me awake or share the driving, 7 hrs behind the wheel is my limit.

We always plan around a 300 mile per day (MPD) schedule. It seems to be the least tiring and we make good progress. Getting off the road early in the afternoon in the summer is often essential. Rarely will we exceed 400 in a day.

In order to accomplish 300 miles in an 8 hour day, a 50 MPH average speed is required. We normally take 2 - 15 minute breaks and a 20~30 minute lunch. We fuel at the end of the day. Since highway speeds are considerably higher than that and my target speed (cruise) is 62~63 MPH our goals are often achieved.

The key is to get going early in the morning.

Like many have noted, 300 miles per day and averaging 55 MPG is a pretty comfortable day. We'll brak a couple of times plus a lunch break. We generally will run between 65 and 70 mph on 4-lane divided roads.

On ocassion, we will put in a 500 mile day to make a single destination if the roads are good and we can make good time. The longest day we have ever done with a class C was 640 mile s and I was pretty well whipped.

The current rig is by far the most comfortable and easiest to drive and with the wive driving 25% of the time, a 500 mile day is not too bad.

We have done a few days that were well under 100 miles as well. Basically you need to try to find the pace that suits you. But running 65 MPH and with rest stops and a meal, it is not hard to average 55 MPH over the day.

I guess I'm the odd-ball. When going to a particular destination, It dosen't bother me to put in 5-600 miles a day. A 12 hour driving day is my norm. We get an early (05-0530) start and are in a targeted cg by 1700.
It is not unusual to spend 2-4 hours in the comfortable drivers seat. My wife keeps me supplied with refreshments.

I really don't care how long I drive as long as I take a break every 100 miles or so (or when the dogs tell me I have to!) I think where you are driving is an important as to how long you drive - mountains vs flat lands, interstate vs back roads. scotty.

We usually have a destination in mind and then set a plan B in the event I feel the A is too long. Six hundred miles is about my max. In my new rig the driving is considerably more relaxing than my DP was so the crusing speed is usually the legal limit, I now get in more miles in the same driving time.
We travel to dog shows so the kids really determine the stops. if they don't want a pit stop I will call one every two hours the most.
We have found that the truck weigh stations, the area behind the scales, make the best stops, very little traffic and very large parking areas. With everything onboard we don't need the conveniences offered in the regular rest areas.

I just drove back from Las Vegas to Chicago while stopping outside of Kansas City to see Mile at Brazel's. Total mileage of 1875 miles in 53 hours. I drove alone and was in a hurry, but remember out west the speed limit is 75. (Except of course over the Eisenhower tunnel on I-70 where the best I could do was 29 miles an hour.) Cost almost $900 in fuel!!!
