after hearing all the horror stories from other RViers, I hardwired a 50 Amp unit on mine. Didn't want to take a chance

That one will do what you are looking for. It's also available as a "hard wired" model.

These guys might have it in stock:

How Many Use an RV Surge Protector?

(i probably just jinxed myself, oh well)

Lucky!
My Progressive Industries PT-50C saved me when a pole transformer exploded, but the neighbors had $3500 in damage. They waited weeks before it was fixed. My PI unit just waited for good power again.
My PI unit identified 2 low voltage issues that destroyed the A/Cs of 2 neighbors. (Cha-Ching!!!)
It also pre-alerted to 3 misswired pedestals that were quickly repaired.
All of the above in 5 years at high rated campgrounds.
You are overdue. Be wise.

I do agree that it can happen anytime, anywhere. I'm definitely not rich but i treat this like i do all my insurance purchases. I figure out what i can afford to replace if something goes wrong and then buy insurance accordingly. Sure, there is a possibility of frying something, maybe everything at the same time. I'd hate for it to happen but i'm prepared to take care of it if it does.

Not that this makes much difference but, everything on our 03 is original so i kinda halfway expect to see problems because of their ages anyway.

I understand but don't understand.
A $300 sure thing has paid me back in multiples.
I wish you well in your travels

We're in on this we use the Technology Research Corp 34850 50 Amp Portable Surge Guard w/LCD Display. No sense in taking a chance to much to loose for such a small investment.

Won't hook up without it will use generator instead.

Have seen to many power brown outs and fluctuations.

Safe Travels to All.

We lost our microwave and the GFCI panel breaker at the same time and I suspect it was due to a surge. I replaced the cheesy OEM microwave, replaced the bad GFCI breaker and bought a PROGRESSIVE INDUSTRIES EMSPT50C 50AMP surge protector, found it on craigslist for $200 from someone who just bought a new MH with the same SP built in. Works great and well worth the peace of mind!!

Thank you all for the input. I am purchasing the one I listed (2nd one I linked). I had no idea what to get, so this thread has been extremely helpful. Now to order that and the extension cord we will need for one place we will be going in a few weeks. Will say I am so glad to of found this site. Have been reading through many posts and as a new rv'er I am finding much of this extremely helpful.
