How old were you when... ?

Ok time for something light and fluffy...

My wife and I have been watching Going RV on Great American County channel. One of the things they like to promote on that show is that RV'ers are getting younger and younger...

So I am curious, when did you first go camping? When did you get your first RV and what was it... and when did you get your first class A?

For me I would go camping with the Boy Scouts when I was a kid. When the kids were younger (early teens) we took them tent camping for about 5 summers in a row. My wife and and I were in our 30's. Now I have my fist real RV a class A at 43.

Parents rented a TT in 1957 (I was 10 at the time) and ordered their first in 1958. Haven't been without an RV since I got my first TT in 1968. Got a Type B MH in 1988, a Type C in 1997 and the first Type A MH in 1998.

I camped as a kid always in tents. I was a pre-teen, my Dad and I went to the local Portland RV show in the 80's and I saw the Beaver 40. I was in love with class A's from that moment. After I got married at 32 we bought a trailer. We loved it but after 5 years it was too small for my now family of 4. At 37 we bought our first Class A gas. I kept it until the age of 43 when I found my current DP.

I still go to every RV show, fall and spring and walk through every thing. Now I have my kids with me, which is really fun. The best part is that the salesman never bother us in the class A section because they figure were not serious

1971. Bought a new Midas Smokey 16' trailer and a new 1971 Buick Special Station Wagon. Had that set up for 6 years. Took it all over the east coast on vacations, from Fla (lived there) to Maine.

Have been camping scene before I can remember but around 1965 at about 10years old 5 of our 7 family members went to Canada with a 1964 VW Bug. Everything went on the roof rack there was no room inside the Bug for anything and we stayed in a 8'x8' canvas Army umbrella tent we camped in that tent many times. In 1979 DW and I bought a 12'x12' umbrella tent 1998 got a 11.5' truck camper and in 2010 38' motor home and for the last 5 years we are full time Rving. We are now looking at getting a new Super C NeXus SD36 next year if things work out.

I first went camping in Cub Scouts. Boy Scouts could go on the Swamp Tromp but Cub Scouts couldn't. We could, however, send newbie Boy Scouts on snipe hunts. LOL

So 50 years later Mom says she wants to go camping. In a tent. Mom and a tent and bugs and heat don't go together so I just ignored her. A few months later she says "lookit this cute little trailer."

Mom and "cute little" don't go together either. So at this point we have a HR class A and Mom's happy. All because I was a Cub Scout.

Hold old were you when... ?

At 6 months old, I slept on the back window ledge of my Dad's 32 Ford on a camping trip to the Black Hills. My memory is a bit sketchy about that journey!
The first "A" happened, but when is not relevant. We always camped. We are still camping!
To us, it doesn't matter if nap sack, bike, tent, or RV.
Happy Trails everyone!

Camped for the first time at age 16 with my boyfriend Dan and his parents in an old converted Ford school bus. Loved camping and the boy! That boy and I married and bought our first Class A at the age of 55. Still have the Class A and the boy

1st. Camped in the backyard with brother stealing the covers! Worse than with my wife - now.
2nd. Cub Scouts
3rd. With parents - me and older brother sleeping in the back seat
4th. Finally in a legitimate tent. The ones that would take three hours to assemble resulting in parents screaming at each other!
5th. With friends on fishing and hunting trips
6th. In a pop-up motorcycle trailer
7th. in a MH in 1999 - new from the dealer. We still have it!!!!!!!!!
