How to file a claim with Progressive and not get shafted
Long story short is I hit a branch pretty hard which cracked the upper corner of my C Class and while on the way home a section tore off. It is looking to be about $2K to fix correctly. I just thought I would throw it out there to see if anyone has any suggestions on how to position this with Progressive. I have never had a claim with Progressive, I just bought this motorhome 3 weeks ago and I am somewhat new customer of Progressive.
Thanks in advanced for any strategy/suggestions.

I have attached before, during and after pics.

You call the insurance company and tell them what you did. Let them take from there

FWIW it seems that any adjuster will see the bump damage thus it goes on your collision coverage and you eat the deductible. Not sure how else to frame it.

Thanks, I just read about 20 pages of RV claim nightmares with Progressive, I have no problem filing the claim but given the initial damage was from a tree and the section tearing off was from me driving I am concerned about the coverage.

I'm not sure what you are asking when you ask for advice on how to "position yourself with Progressive". Call them, tell them truthfully what h happened, and move on. Waiting any longer is not going to help the claim process go any easier!

Is there some delamination just behind the damaged section under the window? Maybe it's the camera angle in the "before" picture but it looks like bubble in the outer skin right there.

if its just $2000, I would probably just pay for it myself instead involving an insurance co, especially with the policy only 3 weeks old

Had 3 claims with progressive. Clipped a boat trailer hitch with mt travel trailer and 2 MH windshields. They couldn't have been easier to deal with.

X2....depending on what your deductible is it may just be cheaper to pay it yourself and not involve the Insurance Company. I know that's why you buy insurance but being new with the company it may be better to avoid a claim.

I see your point. You did what you did and are stuck with it to some extent. You probably should have done something different. My retirement fund would be happy to take a nickel for every time I screwed up. Treat it as a learning experience. The rest is posted in that vein.
FWIW I think you need to be able to respond to why you did not stabilize the damaged section. I would not be able to without a ladder or some other way to get up that high. Then I would need duct tape and maybe some screws and a power screwdriver. If I did not have them I would be going where I could get them. YMMV. ;-)
FWIW2 I usually carry the tools and tape and would use a picnic table or similar to stand on if I could not borrow a ladder. I know that I have a responsibility to minimize further damage and would be trying to make a reasonable attempt at doing it. I would not be doing it at 75mph on the super slab. Something we all should keep in mind.

I'm an insurance agent, and agency owner, who handles many companies, including PRO. Every customer has different experiences during any claims process, no matter what company.
In all my years, the most aggravated customers during a claim were the ones who did not trust their insurance company during the very time when they needed their help the most.
I hesitate to help a customer who is trying to hide details or thinks that they know how to manipulate the claims process, but I go out of my way to fight for a customer who is honest, forthcoming, and feels that there is more that should be done by the company.

Well said. Not sure if anyone else got this, but to me the OP is asking advice on what to say to avoid just telling the truth. Lying eventually will bite back. My apologies if I interpreted that wrong

I'll be very surprised if that can be fixed PROPERLY for $2000. Fixing to your satisfaction might be possible though.
I've had two claims with Progressive. I was happy with both. In my case, I have an independent agent I work with, they really helped on the second claim as I did the repair work.

I am a retired claims adjuster and the best thing to do, as others have said, is to tell the truth. Fibbing during your claim statement can be easily seen through and if it is an important material fact, it can get you into trouble. Ever hear the term, insurance fraud?
Just deal with it honestly and move on.
