Water Softener Stand
So now that Ive researched the water softener process and products, I've found a stand for the 4" water softener/filters, but what does one use for a stand for an On The Go DOUBLE filter that is described as 10" diameter?
Looking for suggestions.
I was thinking maybe a five gallon bucket from Home Depot and cover it with a fabric cover/topper.
Thanks

was concerned that it might tip over from weight of hose(s) and/or RV resorts might require them to be "hidden" or kept out of view.

I know I really need to get one. I just want to know what I'm getting into.

You drain the water from softener tank and refill it with a mix of one 26 oz container of salt with about 1.5 gallon of warm water. There is a fill screw in port on the top of the tank. Invert the tank a couple of times and then let it sit for 30 minutes or longer. Purge the tank of salt water and reattach it to the coach's eater system. How long the softener goes before a recharge depends on the location (hardness if the water).

There is a really good video on You Tube by the RV Geeks on how to thoroughly decalcify and maintain your hot water heater. For years I thought I was doing a good job of cleaning it, turns out not as good as I thought.

Water softener (plus other chemicals, making boiler water NON-POTABLE), is what large steam boilers use to minimize calcium/ MINERAL BUILDUP AND rust issues.

If filter not replaced recently, try a new filter, just in case your old filter has some element that is coming apart? If new does it too, then it is purely hard water.

I use a bungee cord to hold my tank upright against the rear wheel, so the only hose across the site is the regular white water hose. I have a short 3 ft hose from the tanks to the fresh water inlet fitting. Of course there are several fittings in the inlet and outlet of the tank that allow me to bypass the tanks (to adjust the hardness of the water) plus a tap for softened water.

We use these at work on hot water heaters and hot water pressure washer in areas where we don't have soft water. More like liquid rock . Wells are in 1400' of limestone.

An anode will not affect mineral buildup, it's function is to prevent galvanic corrosion from destroying a steel tank, Atwood, owned by Dometic, has a coated aluminum tank, as stated in their water heater repair manual.
Quote: ATWOOD CLAD TANKThe Atwood water heater tank is constructed of a core of high strength aluminum. The interior of the tank consists of a15% thickness of type 7072 aluminum (pure aluminum and zinc) that is fused to the core during the rolling process. This material protects the tank from the affects of heavy metals and salts found in waters throughout the country. It isanodic to these heavy metals and acts much like an anode in a steel glass lined tank except it will last much longer. There is also no need to replace an anode on a yearly basis.Flushing the tank on a regular basis has been found to be helpful in insuring the best performance of your water haterand adding to the useful life of the tank. For flushing instructions see your owners manual or contact Atwood for a copyof our recommended procedures
