Alot depends on what type of roof you have. If you could put that info here I'm sure someone could provide some hints which may help.

Take care.

If you have a EPDM rubber roof, cleaning it and then using a conditioner will help with the white or even black streaks. Protect All make some good products for this.

I have a Country C oach with a fiberglass roof. I was constantly washing the roof to control the white streaks down the side. A friend gave me some 303 Aerospace Protectorant to try. I could not believe how well it has worked. I apply it every 6 months and no more streaks. It takes about a quart in a spray bottle to wipe down the roof of a 40' coach.

Odds are the roof on a 96 is EDPM rubber and the streaks are merely "chalk" form the white pigment in the rubber. AS RVWizard suggests, a good cleaning will wash away most of the existing loose chalk. It makes a mess on the sides of the rig while doing so, so be prepared to wash the whole rig after you do the roof.

Rubber roof sealers such as the one from Protect-All Rubber Roof Treatment will prevnt further chalking for maybe 6 months, but then another cleaning and sealing will be required. Chalking is the major drawback to rubber roofs and the reason why fiberglass and materials such as Brite-ply are now so popular.

Bill has '96 Safari with a fiberglass roof. Regular cleaning and some 303 works wonders.
