HR Navigator Engine AC

Can someone tell me the brand name of the AC system on my 1997 Holiday Rambler, Navigator. And by the way, is it possible to cause a compressor to seize while trying to add refrigerant? I believe it uses R134a because that's what the mechanic was adding.

Some coaches of your year and type were built on Spartan chassis and others on a Roadmaster. Regardless of which chassis you have, the dash air/heat system was built by SCS/Frigette which is now out of business.
You might try contacting Victory Climate Systems at 817-293-3331. Some of their folks worked for SCS and may be able to help you.

Yes, it is R-134 as R-12 was banned in 1994.
Our systems should NOT be a mystery to a good A/C technician as it is the same as any automobile but with long hoses. Compressors may be rebuilt and with all the numbers to be found on yours, can probably be found new.
If it were me, I would find a good A/C guy and not a "mechanic".
