Hurricane prep: Tarps on the roof?

With the big hurricane rolling in on Florida I was thinking about what preventative measures to take for my Class A being stored uncovered outdoors. I have a good, dry roof, but was thinking maybe a couple of tarps tied over the roof might not be a bad idea. I was going to get a couple of cheap blue tarps and tiring them on the roof to help keep things dry. Is this a good idea, or could I possibly be creating problems by doing this?

Would think tarps might cause more problems then good. If you have no leaks now leave as is, just not under any tree limbs etc. Slides in for sure

Unless you could tie the tarp down pretty well the wind is liable to cause it to flap around and the metal grommets may do damage. Placing it close to a sturdy structure and away from trees would be my strategy. Or better yet, take a 3 day trip to Panama City.

Cheap tarp = sail in a hurricane!

Tarps, not a good idea. Strong winds and they will beat the daylights out of your MH.

High winds can do really unbelievable things sometimes. Maybe the RV will blow away and leave the tarps laying on the ground? Anyway, I really don't think a tarp is going to do any good in a hurricane.

If you see a classic or street rod on an open trailor it's never tarped. The tarp or cover in the wind will damage paint!

I agree with taking a short trip away from the hurricane in the motor home.

I'd find a way to drive out of danger.

Would also be worried about slide toppers, with the wind getting behind/under them and blowing the topper out.

Haven't looked, but there may be a way to tie them tight so they don't unwind.

We bugged out from SE Georgia this morning.
Now 200 miles east in a campground full of refugees.
I don't worry about hurricanes. I move. The biggest damages are from wind and hail. A tarp won't stop neither!
Hail yes, I bugged out.
