2007 Winnebago Adventurer, 35A.

We were a day away from home, having completing our 3 month excursion, stopped at a campground, and went to level the coach.

Then came that sound.. . I've heard it once before... (this could be a Halloween story). Motor running, but no load.

First thing that came to mind, blown hose. Since we were one day out, I looked at the fluid on the gravel and sighed. We can survive a night without slides.

Crawled under today, and you guessed it, a blown hose near the pump. Can't see where it came from, or where it goes.

Looking at what routing I can see, and after looking the hydraulic schematic, I am guessing that it is the main pressure line. It also has a white marking label near the end.

So, question is, has anyone tried to replace this themselves, (I'm thinking that the unit will have to be lowered to access the fittings) , or should I leave it to the pros. Also, what what would be the man hours to complete the repair?

I ask this, as our home is in escrow, and the future owners want the house asap. We can stay at friends house, but already have reservations at a park, to stay at when we arrive at our new location. (We are moving from CA to TX.).

Any suggestions?

Although not familiar with your Model RV, I have been under mine and have looked at the hydraulic system and I would make the attempt to replace the hose myself, you can get the hose part number off the hose, and call HWH and order it. It will be messy, make sure to get some fluid to replace what was lost.

If you replace it yourself, you can still stay in the RV verses dropping it off somewhere and waiting for repairs.

Man hours would depend on how the hose is routed and if they have to take the pump out. You should be able to determine this by crawling and looking at it. I would just guess min of 6 hrs labor for a shop, just guessing.

Take this in consideration, if you are at a campground, not sure if you can do maintenance there or not.

Mechanically inclined? If you can see and reach both ends of that hose, remove it and take it to the nearest hydraulic repair shop or rent-all store(they usually make their own hoses), and have a new hose made. Probably cheaper and much faster than ordering one from OEM manufacturer.
If you aren't sure about installing the new hose, ask them for tips to prevent leaks or hose damage.
When the new hose is installed, purging all air from the system is next. That is done by re-filling the hyd. oil reservoir to the full mark every time the jacks and slide are retracted until you no longer need to add oil.

Have to agree with Ray on this, about taking the hose to a hydraulic shop, based on your time frame situation.

I worked with hydraulic systems, (16" Turrets) over 10 years with the USN. So, I consider myself mechanically inclined, my problem is that I can'really see the connections of the hose, due to it's location. Guess I'll have to crawl under again tomorrow and see what I can find.Had my last line made at NAPA, no problems with it so far, been 2 years now...
