HWH Jacks not storing, panel not lit

Hello all,

New to this site. Been RVing for a while. I have a 2005 Winnebago Journey 39K. Bought new and this is the first jack problem I've had. It only has 12,000 miles on it. I used to drag race and used this to stay at the tracks with and retired , from racing, two years ago.

Anyways, this is going to be long, here's what is happening and what I have done so far:

Chassis batteries were dead and would not take a charge. I replaced with new. Started MH. Pushed the extend button for a slideout and the HWH jacks went down. They extended fully. I tried to power up the touch panel. It would not turn on. I read manual and located the electrical control panel. I was able tu crank in three of the fout T-handles on the solonoids to manually lift the jacks. The fourth has the high pressure hose mounted tight to the solonoid and wont budge.

I started MH and jacks went back down without touching anything.

I found a 7.5 amp fuse blown, F-10 is the location. I replaced it. It blew again right away.

I unhooked chassis batteries, replaced 7.5 amp fuse, then rehooked batteries. Fuse did not blow. Panel still will not come on.

I located the pump relay and unhooked the wires to the pump motor, as the motor would not stop running when the jacks went down. When I unhooked it, all 4 jacks went up. Was not intending this to happen, but it worked out great. I rehooked the wire up and the pump was not running now.

Went in MH to start it up. Touch pad will still not light up.

I started it. Jacks were now all up, but not stored. Also will not let air suspension come up. All I can guess is that it's stuck in dump mode from the touch panel not coming on.

I am confused. I called HWH this morning. They are busy and have to have a tech call back. I called the dealer and another local dealer. Service is too busy and both have to call me back.

If I could drive it there, I would, but no air suspension will surely damage something and ride like your butt is on the ground.

This is a HWH 325 series system.

Thanks for reading the long first post. Any help is greatly appreciated !

Just had the exact situation on my HWH system. The cure is to remove the control box and send it to HWH for repair. They are $599 new or no more than about $420 repaired. That 4 hundred price is what they will quote if your controller is completely shot and they have to rebuild it all. Mine came back at $266.00. It was about 2 week turnaround.
Good luck. I highly suggest that you take photos and mark the connectors when you remove your board.

Thanks Joe.

Frank from HWH called me back and said the same. He stated that the F-10 location fuse (7.5 amp) is the surge protection. If blown, the panel will need some type of repair. All of my LED's are lit, except for the three bottom ones. I think they control 36,37 and 38.

I removed it last night. All of the connectors appear to be different in shape, except for the two that are mounted on the side of the aluminum shell. I marked which one was the top. Just in case, I researched the outcome if those two plugs were reversed by accident. Answer: Nothing will get hurt, but the system will be enabled until the two plugs are swithched.

My life became a lot easier when I found out the third step can be removed for easy access. Laying on my back would have been unsuccessful in unplugging the back of the panel.

Total panel removal time: 10 minutes.

Thanks for the input and hopefully this is the solution. I'll post back when I get the unit back from HWH, and hopefully this helps someone else in the future.

I've messed around with this system so much this weekend, I think I'll apply for a job at HWH..LOL.. !!!!!!!!!!!!

Good deal JRS. I am somewhat more familiar with my system after this ordeal as well. I found that the fuse marked STEP in my underdash panel will silence the jacks alarm?? Anyway, good luck and happy motoring.
