Hydraulic Question

I'm in the middle of trying to add ATF to my Bigfoot hydraulic pumps and came across a question I can't find an answer for.

I want to clean up everything while I've got it sort of apart as well as to keep the tanks free of dirt when I do start adding ATF to them but my question is this, what can I use that won't damage anything hydraulic related.

I started to use break cleaner but am hesitant incase that's to aggressive.

I've been on Google and can't find anything that says use this or don't use that.......

Anyone ever find something that works really well?

Brake cleaner is essentially alcohol in a spray bottle. I would think it was safe around hydraulic lines. I would be careful of plastic shields if there are any. Let's see if anyone says I am wrong. ;-)

My HWH owner's manual says to spray off the tope of the tank and cap with WD-40...wipe and spray again. This will loosen any dirt and other crud and will wipe off easily. A 2nd cote of WD-40 will then spray away any really small stuff left behind.
