Hydro-Hot heating during winter storage?

My coach (2005 Mountain Aire DP) will be stored outdoors in central Oregon for about 3 weeks in December. It has been winterized, including the Hydro-Hot system, but it is my understanding that the Hydro-Hot can still be used for heating. A fellow MH owner, who stores his coach in an unheated indoor space, says he leaves his Aqua-Hot running on electrical all winter. While my coach is in storage it will have a 50-amp connection.

Would it be wise to leave the electric heat element running and the Hydro-Hot on to provide minimal heating while it’s in storage or would it be best to just leave it all turned off for the three weeks?

Yes, the aqua hot can still be used for heating but if everything is winterized there is no need to heat the coach unless you want to. Just make sure you truly have everything winterized including the domestic hot water loop in the aquahot. If it isn't winterized it can be a $15,000 repair if it freezes. Aqua hot has a service hotline if you have any questions and they are really helpful.

Agree, if everything is winterized, why bother running the AH?

I blew the water lines and drained all tanks but Aqua hot says that that's not enough for the domestic water loop. Rather than take the time/ effort to pump antifreeze through the Aqua hot I turn on the electric element when temps are below freezing. In my case, the electric element doesn't provide enough heat to do anything in the coach. For that I use an electric heater set to a low temp setting. Aqua hot element won't use much as once the fluid is heated, the thermostat shuts off until the insulated tank cools.

If you're on a 50A service, you have no problem with power.
