Hydrogen Peroxide

Did I see on one of these sites that some people use Hydrogen Peroxide instead of bleach to clean out their tanks and water lines after the winter. I have tried to find the topic on this site and can not.
Thanks

Yes, I saw it too. Something about use "food grade" Hydrogen Peroxide or something like that. Of course haven't seen too many dead RVers out there that used bleach or pool chlorine

It would take a lot but I have read someone say they used a little to get rid of the bleach smell and taste . I use a little baking soda if I need to but a good flushing
with clear water normally works in getting the smell and taste taken care of.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Wouldn't you know it, about 5 minutes after I sent the above e-mail I found the info I was looking for. When you look at it, how can this stuff hurt you, it's even recommended as a gargle by doctors.

According to the health dept. bleach/water needs to be mixed within the last 24 hours.
With peroxide I just use it straight from the bottle. Buy a new bottle at the start of each year. I don't use it to sanitize they whole system, just the spigots I hook to.

Hydrogen peroxide is not a sanitizer. It will only kill germs effected by high oxygen concentrations.
Chlorine, sodium hypochlorite, bleach, are all the same, is an oxidizer and a sanitizer.
Peroxide will help remove some odors but it does not sanitize.
Can't help it, it is the chemist in me.

Just make sure you don't use bleach and peroxide at the same time.
