Installing wireless side view camera

Good morning,

I am contemplating installing wireless side view cameras.

I already have a wireless rear view camera, the monitor is wired to the lights so I always have it on when driving to use for rear viewing.

The potential plan would be get a split screen monitor and leave this switched on also when driving, I would not hook it up to the turn signals.

My obvious issue is where to draw power from and get a decent finish on the camera mounting. Here is a picture of the side of my rig.

Part of my drive is fairly narrow and my my wife has to direct me as have only about 6 inches to spare on each side. Is it possible to get a cmera to show what's to the front and the side of the coach?

I have been installing both wired and wireless back up cameras for years. Go on ebay and find one with 2 connections, then mount the cameras wherever you like. Be prepared for poorer quality with wireless than with a wired connection. You need at least a 7 inch monitor with capabilities of flip/rotate/reversing, and then you will be able to switch between cameras. If you are mechanically inclined, get a wired system.

Thanks for posting Willy,

I am happy enough with the quality of my rear view one so would go with wireless, just need to figure out where I can tap in to power.

The closest running/clearance light you can find, both positive and negative.

I have plans to install an alarm system for our RV. I surfed online to get an idea regarding the security cameras and I came across an article(Wired Vs. Wireless Alarm Systems | Canadian Security Professionals) which mentions the difference between the wireless and wired security cameras. I know that it is not practical and impossible to get the wired security cameras. Since I read many disadvantages of wireless cameras like they are more prone to inferences and signal jams, produces false alarms, they are less reliable, etc. I think that wireless cameras can be get disturbed by the bad weather, cell phone, etc. So is it good to install a wireless camera system? Are there any alternative methods avoid the disturbance and signal jams?

I like the side cameras that mount on the mirrors. If you can find some that fit on your make/model of mirrors, you can probably wire them in through the existing mirror wiring conduit. No holes in the coach this way, so no additional spots for water leaks.

I installed a 4 camera system and mounted the side cameras on the bottom of the mirrors. Running the wires was not difficult. My cameras are wired and get their power from the 9" Quad DVR Monitor. The cameras are from Amazon $15 and the monitor is from Ebay $170. Without the DVR function it is about $80.
