Insurance

It is time to renew the insurance on our towed, a 05 Jeep Grand Cherokee. the MH is with another company and is not up for another few months. We have been with Liberty Mutual for 40+ years and now they are increasing premiums by about 30%. We are looking at GMAC, GEICO, and Progressive. Any feedback on claims, service, etc. would be very helpful.

Thanks, MIke

Insurance

Ditto on Safeco

I was with USAA for 30+ years, including my 2002 Monaco. When I bought a 2013 Entegra they informed me they no longer insured new RV's because they said the "risk was too high". Just for fun I asked to talk to a Supervisor and I voiced my opinion they had opened the insurance base too wide increasing their losses and that RV owners tend to be older and the most conservative drivers. They said they could not help me and goodbye.

I switched to Safeco without regret.

Not sure if the insure motor homes but I have a fifth wheel and use Allstate and they have been great! I pay very low rates and last year when my awning ripped off and broke a window they paid to have the whole thing fixed quickly with no problems.

ok, when I got the rv and the StateFarm $ I switched to Gmac it saved me alot of money, My coach is $1050 a year, that drops to 50% when I put it in storage, They also have a replacement policy, if you have a newer coach, I ended up moving three more cars to Gmac, now I've only had one claim for hail damage on one of the cars, but the paid quickly with no problem, Now, by moving all my cars from State farm, I was going to loose my homeowners multiline discount, that meant a $250 annual homeowners increase, and then there was the motorcycle Gmac didnt want to insure, so I left one car and the motorcycle with Statefarm to keep the homeowners discount, just what worked for me, there seem to be a lot of threads on insurance, so check them out, Remember Insurance agents are salesmen! So good luck.

I have 4 cars and 2 golf carts and a home with liberty mutual and very pleased with them. My advise get estimates from other companies, show it to your agent tell them to match or move. I have my MH with progressive since LM does not insure MH.

Welcome to the forum.

I've had Progressive for six years now. They've raised my rates a couple of times but I just had a claim and they were great. I documented it here A Good Experience w/Progressive Following Accident

Best of luck.

Thumbs down

I changed from State Farm to GEICO insurance for our 2011 Honda CRV and cut my rate by over a half. State Farm was $378.00 and GEICO is $168.00 for six months with full coverage.

That's why they named themselves Progressive because they low ball you then progressively raise the rates! We went to GMAC.

Insurance cover for M.H.

We have been with A.A.A. for 43 years and if you ask them what it will cost if you add your house, all cars and R.V. I am sure it will be a good deal for you or anyone elce.
It does not make any diffrents when you join them.
Just a thought.

Typically I go along with the crowd. But... Not here.

We have had Progressive on our MH, pickup and two motorcycles for 5 + years and have been overly satisfied with everything they've been involved in. From accidents to off-road mishaps - such as the one in my avatar.

I'd recommend them to my family and friends... And I do!!

Caviot: I do NOT own stock in them nor do I work for them.

We had progressive for over 10 years , insuring our MH, Our House, our Envoy, 3/4 ton Ford Diesel, and 2 motorcycles. When our policy came up for renewal for our car and P/U I felt it was way overpriced so I got a few quotes. All of them were Half as much as our current bill from progressive. I contacted Customer support twice to give them the opportunity to match, but the would only drop $90. Exact same coverage, no tickets, no accidents, no claims in 8 years. That claim was comprehensive not an accident. We were very disappointed to say the least, but farmers quoted us over $550 cheaper every six months.
We still have our house and MH there, but everthing else is gone.
