Intellitec Automatic Energy select switch

I have a hot spot on my wire coming from my water heater to my energy select switch.

Could this be enough to make the switch not send power to the water heater?

I have already changed the element.

I plan on replacing the wire.

Yes. I believe the connection had been loose or corroded causing low current and now could be no current until cleaned and tightened or replaced.
