You need to place it as close as possible to the battery bank, otherwise the DC current deteriorates.
Read the blog, the "12 volt side of life". Blog.

NO ! the motor home plug would draw too much power and blow any circuit breakers the invertor has. Convertor / charger cuts in automatically.
If your coach was not pre-wired with an inverted circuit, you have to decide what plug you want to power up from the invertor and what kind of load you will be putting on that circuit. Most small invertors will only handle TVs and other AV equipment. They don't produce enough for tosters, coffee makers , fridges or microwaves.
Instructions with the unit should tell you the largest load possible.

Mount the inverter near the batteries, to keep the 12v power run as short as possible - it is the high current draw. Run an extension cord to where you want to plug something in. A 1000 watt inverter can supply only about 8 amps, so you won't be running much from it. Certainly not the whole coach, so little point of plugging that in. Besides, you would have to at least turn the breaker off for the converter/charger, cause otherwise you would be drawing power form the battery to re-charge the battery, and that just guarantees the battery will soon run down flat due to power loss in the process.

You need a substantial size set of batteries to run very much for very long. It takes 85+ amps from the batteries to produce that 1000 watts of output power.
