inverter/charger

Iam having trouble again with my xantrex unit. It has been rebuilt once and replaced once in 5 years and now is inverting on its own and running down my batteries. I'm thinking of trying a different brand. Any suggestions or info would be appreciated. TIA

When we had to upgrade ge inverter (switched to a residential fridge) we went with a Magnum PSW which we are happy with...much better remote IMHO.

Not sure what you mean but inverting on its own. If you are not plugged into shore power and the generator is not running the inverter will start to invert if the its power switch is on.

It will turn on when I'm hooked up to shorepower or using generator and run my house batteries down.

There is a circuit in the inverter that senses another voltage source and if present turns the inverter portion off but leaves the battery charger active. It sounds like something is wrong with the sensor circuit or the relay. Xantrex is a good inverter perhaps you got a bad unit. Have you plugged into a campground with voltage problems??
