Inverter Info Please

I have to replace an inverter that was retro-fitted in an RV. (not factory equipment) The present inverter is a Go Power 3000 watt MSW. I had hoped to repair it, but the truth is, one does NOT repair a Go Power inverter. Once it's out of warranty it becomes disposable. I couldn't get parts, and wouldn't know what to get anyway, because the manufacturer won't part with their schematics. If it's out of warranty they will be happy to sell me another one.

Disposable might be a convenience when buying diapers, but an inverter - not so much.

For the purchaser who's inclined to read Go Power's manual, it says this:

Go Power! electronic products are non-repairable, Go Power! does not perform repairs on its products nor does it contract out those repairs to a third party. Go-Power! does not supply schematics or replacement parts for any of its electronic products.

Wow. So much for technical support.

So I've been looking for another inverter that you don't throw out the first time it fails. I looked around online, and after reading the specs on an Aims inverter I called the support line for the retailer - who incidentally sells many different inverters from a bunch of familiar names, and what I was told was that there isn't an inverter manufacturer out there that provides tech support or parts or schematics unless you are prepared to spend $2000+. Essentially they all play by Go Power's hands-off playbook.

Anyone out there who can recommend an inverter? One that comes with technical support, or service? And one that can be hard-wired to a split phase 50 amp system?

Welcome to the forum,
Sorry to hear of your dilemma. Really, so much of what we purchase anymore is disposable.
The only inverters I'd purchase or recommend:
Inverter Chargers | Magnum Dimensions

Be well.

I have found the folks at Don Rowe to be knowledgeable and have good prices.

Pretty much true, regardless of price. Even Xantrex and Magnum won't give schematics (proprietary info), but they do supply replacement boards to authorized repair shops. For a while, anyway. Xantrex discontinued parts for mine inverter shortly after they stopped producing it and shifted to a newer design. "You have the old model? Sorry, but we have this great new one...". It wouldn't have been so bad except the new one was also incompatible with my existing remote panel and my Auto Generator Start system (both Xantrex as well), so they wanted $4000 for everything I would need. Huh! I lucked out and found an independent repair shop that had the board I needed on a shelf - last one anywhere, as near as I could tell.

Realistically, a repair is not very economic either. Even if the boards were available, it would likely be $600-$800 with labor, so a new one isn't all that much more. And has a warranty, for awhile anyway.

Another member here in IRV2 had this company repair something for him, and spoke highly of them.....might be worth sending it in for a quote....they might be able to spot the bad component visually.

The cheapest place you will find an inverter will be at Boat Supplies, Marine Electronics & Sailing Gear | iMarine USA
