iPod and surround sound system

Anybody have an idea how to hook up an iPod to the surround sound system in the Class A Winnebago or any other system.

I can't think of how to tie it in to the system to utilize the speakers.

Does the stereo have an iPod input jack? Sometimes labled AUX input. Plug one end of a cable into the iPod, the other into the AUX input and you will be good.

Older stereos may not have the input. You can use one of the radio connections to relay. You can pick them up at Walmart, Target etc for about 20 bucks or so.

If you can go with the aux input. The radio relay can have lots of interference.

Hope that makes sense...

No, it's older...I have a Winegard Entertainment Select module with an auxillary input but it's not an iPod jack for sure. What does this relay look like? Is it an iPod product?

The auxiliary input is what you need.

It's called RV Radio and there is an optional Sound sys. deluxe W/Q surround

I found an input for audio on the front TV, can I use that and play it through the TV?

But it's not a jack. Has a little pin hole in it.

Either look at the manual that came with the radio or look at the back of the radio. There should be an auxiliary RCA type input jack that when connected to your ipod with an adapter cable will allow you to play your ipod thru the radio using the controls for Aux input 1 or 2.
I hooked up my Magnadyne RV Radio this way and if I can find the adapter cable I used, I will post it here.

Sammie, you mean the built in dash radio? So you would have to pull it out of the dash to find this.

Yes, the built in dash mounted radio should have a spare RCA input on the back side. Check the controls on the front of the radio. There should be AM, FM, FM-1, Aux-1, Aux-2 and so on.

Sounds like a plan. I guess I would have to get a radio person to hook me up then. Or is it easy to remove?

In your big black bag of RV paperwork, there should be a package containing two horseshoe looking wires (looks like bent clothes hanger wire). These two wires plug into holes on each side of your radio. Once plugged in, the radio can easily be pulled straight out to access the back where the Aux wires should be located.

I didn't see them in there. I'll keep looking.

I know this probably isn't your exact model, but this owners manual shows how to remove your radio on page 30 and also Aux inputs on back.

Here is an adapter cable that will go from RCA to your ipod output.
