Is my Battery Boost Switch Working?

I'm checking over my MH and getting it ready for a long trip Monday am.
I noticed the dash battery boost switch does not seem to make anything click near my relay box.

I have a BIRD and am wondering if it should make any noise or if my disconnect solenoids should be activating. I did cycle both chassis and house battery disconnect switches and I could hear the relays work.

I would hate to wait until an emergency to find out the boost switch doesn't work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

It sounds like you may have the coach plugged into shore power. Have you tried unplugging the coach and trying the boost switch to activate the solenoid?

Most likely your bird system had the relay energized, so there was nothing to "click" when you hot the boost switch.

I need to test mine as well, in addition to doing a "low battery test" to see if the relay will actually pass enough power to start an engine.

I recently installed a pair of small digital voltmeters on my dash, and on a recent trip, I could see very clearly that the bird circuit is working exactly as it should. It does energize the relay (and produce equal readings on the voltmeters) almost all the time. It drops out after a few hours unplugged, and stays out for an hour after getting back on the road. Etc.

RV Wizard and Jim,

You guys were spot on. Didn't even think to shut off the converter before testing.
It actually would not work until the residual voltage dropped down to 12.7 volts.

Thanks a bunch, that's another thing I get to cross off my flight list.
