Is this a bad spot for sewer hose storage?
I found what might be the ideal spot for my sewer hose storage, but now I'm re-thinking it.
That's a 5 foot section of fence post. On the far side of the rig, it ends against the back of the step well. Room for everything. But I'm worried about the hose being above the batteries. Will it corrode / degrade over time? I had to replace the battery tie downs as they had rotted away.
Nothing is permanently mounted yet. What are your thoughts?

Damage to the battery tie downs , is usually caused by contact exposure on the battery ; with the separation you've got there should not be an issue with the hard plastic, however you might want a set of the rubber gaskets handy.

I'd be concerned about contamination caused by drips from the hose. I remove the elbow and cap both ends of the hoses for storage.

The atmosphere in a battery compartment, is not going to be hindered, or changed in any way, by adding a lousy sewer hose. I doubt seriously you're going to leave it full of whatever, when you tuck it into that little storage area, that will drip out and not only on area near the batteries but, on YOU TOO. So, I suspect that, you most likely shake it a bit to make sure it's empty or, whatever you do to ensure that, prior to putting it away. There will no accelerated deterioration of any of the components in that area. If I was short on room for something like that and, that's what I found as a good place, it would go in there in a heartbeat.

I like it !
Worse case scenario, you have to replace the $6 fence post in a year or two ...
Our battery compartment is not large enough for that and open to the elements below it, so it STAYS filthy.
Thought of putting the fence post above our cross rv propane tank though, thanks for reminding me!

I don't see how this could cause any kind of problem.

For those of you that see nothing wrong with it, go ahead, but please don't invite us over for dinner right after you've dumped your tanks.
All dumping tools/items/supplies should be stored in a "sealed environment" and proper PPE should be properly used and disposed of in approved containers.

Bio Hazard? In my younger days you could catch me standing in a sewer trench with mud up to my shins in hip waders. The mud came from a ruptured sewer main that had been leaking. I would use a concrete saw, cutting a asbestos sewer pipe so we could get rid of the broken piece and quickly insert a section to patch the leaking one.
Later on we would have to carry a LARGE video camera and stoop walk through a sewer pipe recording cracks and broken sections for topside repairs. We would always comment on the floaters, sinkers and streamers whizzing past our feet.
Ah, they were the good old days. And you think I worry about a drop of sewer water from my RV hose??? Shoot, wash you hands and get on with life.
