Kitchen Ceiling Fan Thermostat

Backed into the wall thermostat cover for the kitchen ceiling fan, knocked the cover off and a small spiral thermostat piece fell out or broke off. Cannot for the life of me figure out where it came from. This is a FanTastic Vent by Honeywell, in our 2003 Monaco Camelot. Have attached three pictures showing the cover with identifying information, the piece in question, and the wall mounted thermostat with cover off.

Can anyone identify where this piece came from or where it goes on this thermostat control. If you have this thermostat control can you take a picture showing the correct configuration? Did I break it good or will I be able to fix it. Did a quick search on the internet to see if I could find the thermostat control and all I found so far was the whole vent fan system, and not just the this thermostat control.

Here is just a guess because my vent fan control thermostat is not exactly the same model. Here is my guess. The coil and pointer that fell off may have originally been mounted to the cover itself and the pointer part of it shows thru the window slot of the cover. It is used to show the ACTUAL air temperature near your kitchen area. The clear slider knob that is part of the thermostat (wall part) then is moved up or down and set to a place shown on the cover's temp. range (Where you want the temp. to be). The vent fan should run when the thermostat clear knob setting is below the actual air temp. shown on the piece that fell off as it shows thru the window and points toward the same temp. scale on the plastic cover. As the actual temp. comes down, the pointer that shows thru the window should move near the temp. you set with the slider knob, and the fan should stop. So I am guessing this separate part mounts to a stud on the back of the cover itself. If that works, then calibrate it by comparing with another thermometer in the same area as this thermostat and move the spring part so the actual air temperature showing thru the cover window is now calibrated. Hope this helps.

Dah!!! You both got it. Can't believe I didn't figure that one out. Was looking at the thermostat and not the cover! The picture told the story, and thanks Radarman for the calibration tip.
