Kwik Kwikee Question/Advice

The Kwickee steps on my 2001 Monaco stopped functioning. Several people have posted a temporary solution, whacking the mechanism with a small hammer. This worked for me but the "Step Out" warning light is now illuminated. Steps function perfectly but I know failure is immanent and will occur at the most inconvenient time. I compounded the problem(s) by removing the pin which connects the open/close linkage to the step frame. Now I cannot get the linkage reattached to the steps. Krap!

So, should I order the entire set of hardware including the controller? That linkage had one heck of a bind on it. No indication of anything bent or twisted.

The step out warning light , might be a Monaco add on , controlled by a contact button touched by the mechanism ; when retracted; to turn it off .
Don't think it was a Kwikee option.
The motor is shut off by a load sensor in the control module , so if the motor ran at all while the linkage was disconnected , it may have stopped past the travel of the mechanism. Find the wiring connected to the motor , have some one close the door so the controller will start the retract cycle ; then disconnect the power from the motor as soon, as it moves the linkage. Then line up the step linkage.
Lube the mechanism , and run the steps through their cycle a number of times ; if the steps work properly ; then I'd say don't replace anything .
Very hard to fix something that's working the way it should.
Here are some files that may help. If you have trouble again.

Thank you Skip426! I tried unplugging the harness, turning the step switch on and doing a quick-plug but was unsuccessful. I'll check those links and see if my skills are limited to driving the coach to the repair facility! Gawwww, I hate to pay for something I should be able to accomplish on my own.
