Kwikee Steps stay in when hot

I've noticed my steps at times not opening and finally concluded it is due to heat build up while driving on warmer days. I bought a new motor on ebay and that worked fine while (little did I know) I was driving when the temp was below mid 70's. I appears that the front mud flap blocks any air to cool the motor in the steps. Once parked they will work anytime from 1/2 hour to 3 hours later after the motor cools down.

Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions? I'm thinking of running some pvc to make a duct to cool the motor.

You may have a poor ground connection for steps causing high resistance increased amp draw, more heat.
Check the ground connection to frame of coach and clean plug to motor in case sealed plug has corrosion.

I agree with the O/P it is highly unlikely heat build up is causing your problem. Sure sounds like a ground or an open breaker.

And lubricate the step. Kwikee makes an excellent lube product - I use it in the step and many other things.
