Leave slides out???

Good Evening All,

We are camping in Southern Maine this weekend and will be returning to this same campground, same site next weekend. The campground has offered to let us leave our coach here for the week for free. I am going to turn off propane, water, all lights, water heater, retract main awning, put in all window awnings, put away all patio furniture and lock all compartments and door. I will leave the sewer and electric in place and the electric on for the fridge.

Now...should I be worried about leaving my slides out all weekend? The weather forecast is for some slight showers but no major weather conditions. Should I be worried about the slide toppers being out all week?

Thanks in advance for your opinions and advice.

Faith

The choice is up to you. It will do no harm to leave the slide out. We sometimes spend a month or so in the same place and the slides are out the whole time.

Leaving the slides out is typically not a problem, that being said when we are away for even a couple of days we pull the slides in, the reason being unexpected weather, Hail can tear through the Toppers, likely no, possible, yes.....G

There's a CG we use that will let a guest stay on a site, unhooked, for free when camping back-to-back weekends. When we've stayed, I pull our slides in, just in case there's a pop up storm w/hail that might do damage to the toppers. Better safe than sorry.

One of the negatives to closing them may make the unit apear that no one is home and make it more of a tempatation for thieves. Beyond that I agree with the other posters.

Why leave the slides out and expose the seals and toppers to weather when you don't have to? If you aren't in the coach, bring them in.

If you put them in then you will not think about it while you are gone. Leave them out---well just the fact that you are debating tells me you will worry. I would favor peace of mind.

Wise words! Worry is the misuse of imagination!

Most thugs are not smart enough to tell if an RV has a slide. Pull them in and leave the porch light or a low wattage one on.

I would bring them in. Then you do not have to worry about the weather.

Hi Faith

lol - you ought to have done a poll !

i vote for "IN"

and remember:
4 out 5 things you worry about will never happen
if they are in - one less worry

regards, pdq
