Leaving Motorhome on Seasonal Site Spring thru Fall

Folks,

Just took a leap this year and purchased a seasonal site in the Poconos in Pennsylvania. We will be taking some occasional trips but for the most part will be leaving my 2006 Fleetwood Discovery on the during the week. We will be using it for long 3/4 day weekends and it will be sitting unoccupied 3/4 days during the week.

My question is when I leave the motorhome unoccupied is there anything special I should be doing? I shut off the water heater and water. I have a Progress surge protector so not worried about power surges. I didn't plan on leaving the AC on while it sits unoccupied but not sure if that would be an issue or not. Night time temps get down to the 50/60's and daytime temps could hit the 80's.

I'm not sure there is anything else you have to do. A couple of suggestions, if it were me. Put your contact info somewhere visible in case an issue comes up. I personally would get an inexpensive camera with movement detection and a memory card if your place has reliable wifi. There are also other things you can get to monitor temperature, batteries, etc wirelessly.

I had a seasonal site for three years and used similar to your description. If I wasn’t going to be back for a few weeks (or if bad weather predicted) I would bring in the slides. I left A/C on but set thermostat a bit high since had metered AC. Helps keep humidity down. I would shut off water and propane. I never had issues with theft nor vandalism.

Might be worth getting a small dehumidifier to keep moisture levels inside in check vs running the AC.

We had a travel trailer on a seasonal site with usage like yours. We didn’t live in a humid environment, so I didn’t worry about an AC or dehumidifier. I did bring the slides in, and we always left a roof vent open with a MaxxAir vent cover on it. That just kept things from getting too stuffy.
