This is why I installed switches on every compartment door that has lights, that way they can never be left on and the light automatically comes on when you open the door.

I'm not quite that motivated. It is a great idea though - not having to fumble for the slider switch each time!

Where did you get the plunger switches? That looks like it's a much higher quality than the one Monaco put on my water bay door which is high maintenance.
