Ditto on the Ca. fees, I paid $1105 this year, a 30% increase, I would leave if I could but not quite ready.

Here in Tennessee, I pay the same for my class A motor home as I do for my other vehicles; $26.00 per year. My county does not have a wheel tax, but due to the poor economy, it may be coming soon. On the downside, Tennessee has a high sales tax on just about everything at 9.75 % locally.

We paid $2845 for our 2008 Itasca plates. In Arizona registration fees are tax deductible on the state form only. So maybe you get 20 to 30 cents back on the dollar. That's still a lot of money! Oh...our purchase sales tax was $1830. You would not move to Arizona to save on fees! Joe

Beaverjim: Florida Tangible property Tax;
Is accessed against fixtures, equipment or furniture used for business or commercial purpose. Leased Equipment, Furnishings for rental property owned by real property owner, attachments to mobile homes in rental parks (cabanas, carports etc). Also has a $25,000 exemption. Basically a narrow scope of application. (at least from my point of view --since it doesn't apply)
I actually thought they had done away with it a few years ago.

Last Nov in Utah I paid 835.35 to license my 2001 Tradewinds. With all the cutting of services and at schools I can't wait to see what they will want this Nov. My Toad 03 Pontiac Grand Am was 148.00 and that was only for plates no property tax on the car. At least on the mh I can deduct the Prop. tax portion.

South Dakota is weight based also for Motorhomes. Although http://www.state.sd.us/drr2/motorveh.../motorhome.pdf
is dated 1999, it's still the information listed on the state's website and used to calculate the cost of registration.

$36,250 sales tax on new Newmar Essex plus $8,000/year Personal Property taxes. At this price who cares what the license plates cost.

Missouri

Yeah, I must commiserate with the other Californian's, it's tough to have too much sympathy for the $200 to $700 a year fees when we're paying $2,000. You gotta love the Golden State! :-) Maybe the Golden part refers to the State Treasury? Oh wait, that can't be, last I knew, we're BROKE to boot!! Oh, and if you want to buy a coach here, at 8.75% sales tax, on a $250k coach, you're only looking at $22k, pocket change.
