Our Cow, make sure the connections on the switch are tight and that the wattage of bulb is correct. Either of these can shorten the life of the switch.

Where the wire goes to the base of the socket it is soldered. Just make sure this soldered connection is good. You could put a ohm meter on it and check for resistance when the light is on see if you have a drop or rise in voltage as well.

No, it is not a soldered connection. It has a slipon blade connector. Thanks for your input!

The connection on the switch is quite snug. The bulb connections are pretty flimsy. Could that be the problem. Maybe I should try a new light assembly?

Thanks, Jim

Jim, you will have to be the one to determine if the fixture needs replacing. A new one certainly might cure your problem but it may not as well. What size (watt) bulb is in the fixture now?

The part number of the bulb is 211-2. It is a 12 volt 10 watt bulb. Thanks for the help!

That is the right bulb. Does the ref. cool well? What is the voltage on the batteries?
