2004 Bounder 38N Diesel
Had some problems this weekend: Loss of power, misfire, check engine. Felt like starving for fuel. Especially pronounced on hills (even minor inclines).

Changed the large canister fuel filter. Problem still persists. I have the in-line filter, but for the life of me, I can't find it! I assumed it would be on the rail right behind the tank (and that is where previous owner told me it would be at). What am I missing??

on my dads 04 bounder its just inside the rear door that gives you access to the radiator
on the lower inside edge, easy as pie to reach and drain

Thanks for the tip on the yahoo group. I applied for membership and waiting ot hear back. I will also ask on there.

The filter on the inside of the rear door is the main/large canister filter. I replaced that one (it has a sensor in the bottom and a drain). FYI - You can pick those up at NAPA or O'Reilly (I would rather use the cummins filter, but I needed one fast).

The filter I need to know the location of is the in-line fuel filter. I'm guessing that it is clogged from the symptoms. I actually had a spare, but I searched along both rails from the fuel tank to the rear and did not see it. I must be blind! Surely someone knows the exact location of this filter?

Also, I wish the owners manuals had specs in them! I have access to a recycling machine for the dash A/C. I can't find the normal tag that shows capacity for the R-134. The manual does not show the capacity either. Anyone know where I can find all the capacities for my RV?

I went out to snap a pic of the label for the a/c charge...but alas there is no label on dads either.
the brand is denso, and the booklet provided doesn't list charge capacities either.

I had an 04 Bounder -- there was a fuel 'strainer' in line, buried in the frame rail near the rear axle. this little sucker was black, about 2" in diameter, and maybe 3 1/2 inches long. The biggest problem I had with it was finding it. Once I found it, it was relatively easy to change. Best advise I can offer you is to follow the fuel lines back (they are buried with a bunch of other lines inside the curbside frame rail) until you stumble onto this "rock catcher". I replaced mine, but it is just a large screen, and I can see no reason that you couldn't simply flush it out and replace it.
