I've got a 96 Itsca with a Carefree Fiesta awning that has at least 1 of the springs broken. I ordered both springs and when I went to install them I found out that since I have the"old" style (96 and older) main arms, the new style spring assembly need adapters to fit correctly and to keep the sliding arm from coming out of the main arm track. Well these adapters are no longer available from Carefree. Why Carefree doesn't have this listed on their site I don't know.
My springs must have been replaced before as I have 3 of these adapters already installed but I'm missing one. I know that I've already been using my awning without the 4th adapter but I never noticed them before and wondered why the sliding arm always popped out of the track and why when stowing the awning it sometimes gets out of square and won't line up with the upper mounts on the motorhome. Carefree told me that these adapters do both, keep the sliding arm in the track and keep the awning from wiggling around on the main arms.
Below is a picture I found on the internet of the approx. 2" long aluminum extruded adapter. Does anyone have any of these? Or know where I can get them? It's the silver funky shaped item in the picture, one of each side of the spring end cap.
